Twelve months. Twelve images. An image for each month of 2010. Images that I love- perhaps not all technically perfect- but they all mean something to me, personally and professionally. Just wanted to share with you my twelve faves of 2010.

Mike & Carling- Rock the Dress Session{Hamilton Family Photographer}

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

I know there are a lot of people out there who wondered what on earth I was talking about when I talked about Carling’s Trash the Dress Session- and so I’m going to explain. In the photography world, Trash(/Rock) the Dress Session’s are popular, and very fun!

It’s a photo session done AFTER the wedding and honeymoon are over to symbolically show your husband that you will NEVER need your wedding dress again. Or you can do it just for fun, on your own or with your girlfriends! The purpose of the photo shoot is to get some very creative and different photos of you in your dress. We go out to fun, unusual locations to get gorgeous portraits of you and you don’t have to worry about getting the dress dirty like you would on your wedding day.

Now these sessions are not necessarily to get your dress dirty, or ruined in any way- just to get more fun and creative images of you in the dress of your dreams :) The sessions can take place in waterfalls, on the beach, in fields or any other place you may love. And so, instead of calling it a Trash the Dress Session, I think it is more appropriate to call it a Rock the Dress Session.

Carling contacted us a while back regarding a session with her and her husband and we were so excited for the opportunity! They were so fun to work with, totally willing to do anything we came up with! They have been married for four years already and have two gorgeous little boys- but you wouldn’t know that from Carling’s amazing figure! The best part was shortly after the session when I got a message from Carling, saying that although her hubby was really not looking forward to the session, he later told her it was a lot of fun! Carling also said that she felt it brought them closer together…both amazing compliments!

Thanks so much for the opportunity you two, it was an absolute blast!
